Robert Honeychurch

The Reverend Robert Honeychurch, Rector

Bob Honeychurch has served as rector at St. James' since September of 2001. Prior to coming to Fremont, he and his wife, The Rev. Sylvia Sweeney, served as co-rectors of St. John's Episcopal Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho for nine years, and, prior to Idaho, as co-vicars of two small congregations in northwest Montana for eight years. Bob obtained Masters of Divinity degree from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois in 1984. He received a Doctor of Ministry degree in Congregational Development from Seabury-Western in 1999. He has one daughter, Molly Sweeney, who is a student at the University of California at Davis.

Sylvia Sweeney

The Reverend Sylvia Sweeney, Associate Rector

Sylvia joined the St. James' Clergy Team in 2005. Sylvia received her Ph.D. from the Graduate Theological Union in 2007, her Master's of Divinity from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in 1985, and her Master's in Counseling and Human Systems from Florida State University in 1980. What follows is a short description of her leadership "mission."

Ministry Development: To assist all of our members in identifying and developing the individual ministries to which each of us have been called. Christian Education: To coordinate the overall educational process of the congregation, so that every member has the opportunity to deepen their faith, and grow in their understanding of their relationship with God in Christ. Worship Leadership: To share fully in the design and conduct of worship on Sundays and other occasions, including regular participation in preaching and celebrating the Holy Eucharist, as well as other sacraments and rites of the Church. Pastoral Care: To participate in the care and nurture of members of the congregation, their friends and families, and all who come to this community for support.

Arlinda Cosby

The Reverend Arlinda W. Cosby, Deacon

Arlinda Cosby observed her 25th anniversary of her ordination to the Diaconate on June 30, 2004. Arlinda received her Masters of Divinity (M. Div.) from The Church Divinity School of the Pacific in 1979 and has been the Chaplain/Coordinator of An Episcopal Ministry to Convalescent Hospitals (AEMCH), a chartered organization of the Diocese of California, since 1981. AEMCH serves the residents, staffs, and families of long-term care facilities through 16 participating Episcopal congregations in the East Bay, including St. James'.
